Hello!
On Saturday, April 21, 2012 our little babies began to make their way into the world.
Here you can find pictures of the chicks development as they mature into adults.

Sugar
Sugar was the first of the chicks to grace us with her presence. She hatched midday on Saturday, April 21.
Lightning Bolt
Lightning Bolt (LB) was the surprise of the bunch (the second to hatch). His egg was pushed out of the range of the camera. While watching Mohawk work on cracking open his shell, LB was pecking away at his own shell (which apparently rested against Mohawks making it look like he was really "working up a sweat"). Suddenly out of nowhere LB comes bolting across the screen scattering the 3 eggs that were still in the incubator. LB hatched out of the pinkish-white egg very early in the morning on Sunday, April 22.
Abe
Abe (short for Abraham Lincoln) was the third chick to hatch. While watching him peck away at the shell of his egg my mom (Mrs. W.) made the comment that the way the lights were reflecting off the glass of the incubator his egg, with the pip in it, looked like a fish. As we watched his little beak would peck out making it look like the fish was blinking. As it was about 1:15 AM and I was getting tired, I heard "that looks like Abraham Lincoln." (hence the name). What really sold it for me though was as Abe hatched he seemed unable to get the top of the shell off of his head and for just a couple of seconds tried to walk around with the eggshell on his head like a hat.
Abe hatched about 10 minutes after Lightning Bolt on Sunday, April 22.

Mohawk
Mohawk, the baby of the group, was the last of the 5 eggs to hatch. He got his name because while he was drying off he had the cutest little mohawk. When the kids saw him on Monday he still had some of his spikes, but he also had a brown streak that went down the middle of his head (just like a mohawk). Now although his spikes are gone he still has that brown stripe and lives up to his name. Mohawk hatched about 5 minutes after Abe on Sunday, April 22.
